The world around us is filled with insecurity, death, and evil. Christians are designed by the grace of God to bring confidence, life and goodness into these surroundings. We are alive in Christ. Therefore, we can bring a sense of confidence and security into our surroundings. We bring life to a land of death. We bring goodness to a land of evil. Psalms 27:13 says, "I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." David spoke this word knowing the only place to see true goodness was among the living, those spiritually alive.
We are the land of the living made alive by the finished work of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection! We have applied our faith and now walk in supernatural grace making us supernaturally alive. Under the new covenant we are the body of Christ. The Word of God says that the church is a living body. We are a living, breathing, moving being that is designed to reveal the goodness of God. As we walk by His spirit we produce goodness because His nature is now on the inside of us (Gal. 5:22).
The Body of Christ is the land of the living! We are the land of goodness! We are the land of confidence and security! Our God is a God of the living. However, we have to choose life. We chose it by faith at the time of accepting Christ as Lord. We must choose it daily as we walk in the supernatural life He imparted to us. Jesus told us in John 15:4 **no branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in me .
Every day is a choice of life or death. Every day is a choice of remaining tapped into the life of Christ. The irony of this truth is that we can have eternal life in our spirit, yet choose death in our daily decisions. This is not an eternal life issue, but an abundant life issue. Just as we had to apply our faith to accept the goodness of Jesus as our Lord, so we also apply faith to exhibit that daily goodness. We've got it! We have it on the inside of us. Let us demonstrate the confidence of David. We are confident of what God has placed on the inside of us. It is with that confidence that those around us will say " I see you. . . I see life. . . I see goodness. . . I see the land of the living!"
Crossfire is a church without walls, built on the foundation of grace and love; serving God, building people, and reaching beyond the walls within us to the world around us.
